DENVER --- As part of China's modernization efforts, the Hythane Co. will begin demonstrating its low-emission vehicle fuel system in support of China's national air quality program. The company has signed memos of understanding with five major cities to test and convert as many as 10,000 diesel buses over to Hythane fuel, a blend of natural gas and hydrogen. The fuel reduces emissions by up to 50 percent compared to traditional natural gas, the company said. The project targets full conversion prior to the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing. "Assisting China in developing its transportation and energy strategies is a huge opportunity for the company," said Roger Marmaro, president of Hythane Co. "The initial test phase over the next six to nine months will help set the stage for large-scale market rollout." Other parties to the memos of understanding include the China Association for Hydrogen Energy, the China Electronic Engineering Design Institute, Tsinghua University, and the Shougang Technology Research Institute.
