DaimlerChrysler AG's Brazilian unit said it will begin in January production of a larger model, called the C Class, that will be exported, largely to the U.S. The company's Brazilian unit, Mercedes-Benz do Brasil SA, invested $40 million this year in Brazil to produce the C Class. The investment is part of Mercedes-Benz plans to spend another $120 million through 2001 to boost production of buses and trucks in Brazil. The company plans to produce about 7,000 units per year of the new model in its Brazilian factory located in Juiz de Fora, Minas Gerais state, said Roberto Bogus, sales director of the company, in a press conference Oct. 12 in Sao Paulo.
