HERNDON, VA - Audi announced changes for its A6, Q5, Q7, A4, and a new model for its A8 line. The company also provided details about its all-new A7.

Audi Provides Model-Year Change Details for 2012 Lineup

HERNDON, VA - Audi of America, Inc. announced the major changes and pricing for its 2012-MY lineup. The automaker introduced its new A8 L W12, equipped with a 12-cylinder engine, which offers a number of technology features for executives or business owners, Audi stated. Other models with changes include the new A7, new A6, and updated A8 and Q7 models, with the Audi connect system.

Below, we cover the model-year changes for a range of Audi’s vehicles, including new model features.

A7 (all new)

The Audi A7 drivetrain is a 3.0 liter, V6 supercharged engine, with 310 hp, which is mated to an eight-speed Tiptronic automatic transmission, and standard quattro all-wheel-drive.

  • Five-door coupe styling, four-seat configuration with power tailgate

  • Aluminum-hybrid lightweight construction

  • 3.0 TFSI supercharged V6 engine (310 hp, 325 lb-ft) with eight-speed automatic Tiptronic transmission and quattro all-wheel drive


A6 (updated)

Design:

  • Optional full LED headlights

  • S line exterior for Prestige models

  • Leather seating surfaces with options including climate and comfort seats

  • Hybrid construction of aluminum and steel; aluminum body panels with a steel frame

  • Aluminum suspension to reduce unsprung weight and help improve ride and handling

  • Overall weight reduced by 78 lb. vs. MY11 A6 3.0T

Engine/Drivetrain:

  • 3.0 TFSI supercharged V6 engine (310 hp, 325 lb-ft) with eight-speed automatic Tiptronic transmission and quattro all-wheel drive

  • 2.0 TFSI turbocharged, four-cylinder engine (211 hp, 258 lb-ft) with multitronic automatic transmission and front-wheel drive

  • Audi drive select, the innovative Audi thermal management and energy recuperation systems standard


A8 L W12 (new) and A8 model line

The new 6.3-liter 12-cylinder engine produces 500 horsepower and 463 lb-ft of torque. This engine, mated to an eight-speed Tiptronic transmission and quattro all-wheel-drive produces sports-car levels of performance, with a 0-60 mph time of 4.4 seconds.

  • Audi design selection interior package (Balao Brown) now available on all A8 models (optional)

  • New full leather packages available on all Audi A8 models

A4

Design:

  • Optional Style Package (A4 Premium): Audi xenon plus front lighting with LED daytime running lights and tail lamps, anodized aluminum window surrounds, and polished exhaust finishers on the sedan

  • Standard S line exterior package (A4 Premium Plus and A4 Prestige)

  • Standard Audi exclusive 18-inch 10-spoke wheels (A4 Premium Plus and A4 Prestige)

  • No changes

Design:

  • S line plus package for 3.2 includes 20-inch 5-segment-spoke wheels in titanium finish, black optics exterior kit including matte black roof rails and window surrounds

Engine/Drivetrain:

  • No changes to 2.0T and 3.2 gasoline engine models


Q7

Design:

  • New 19-inch 5-arm-structure-design wheel: standard on TDI clean diesel; optional on 3.0T models

  • New S line plus package for Prestige models includes 21-inch 5-segment-spoke wheels in titanium finish, black optics exterior kit including matte black roof rails and window surrounds

  • Two new white paints are expected by late CY2011: a new metallic white paint and a new non-metallic white paint (to replace non-metallic Ibis White from MY11)

Engine/Drivetrain:

  • Q7 3.0T quattro now with 280 hp (+8 hp vs. MY11 Q7 3.0T)
