The ADT Automotive Technical Center recently began conducting training sessions on condition report writing and frame and structural damage policy standards for the entire auction industry on behalf of the National Auto Auction Association (NAAA). The training classes were presented to the NAAA standards committee by ADT. The committee approved the formats and in January began promoting them to NAAA members and associate members. The training curriculum consists of a two-day course on condition report writer certification and a one-day course on frame technology and technical aspects of the frame and structural damage policy standards. Dan Dietsch, operations manager of ADT Tech, said attendees from all auction chains and several independent auctions have participated to date, and monthly classes are scheduled through the end of the year. Classes average 12 to 16 participants. Other upcoming events at ADT Tech include: The NAAA will hold its auction performance group (APG) meeting in Nashville in June and plans to spend one day at the technical center. Dietsch and his staff will be conducting five hands-on workshops on reconditioning and safety for APG members, including color matching, diagnostics, paint finishing, detail products, and VOC (volatile organic compounds) regulations, as well as general auction safety. Avis Rent-A-Car, which trained more than 200 employees at ADT Tech last year in turnback, repair and maintenance appraisal, will send 100 more employees through advanced collision repair training this year.
