Hyundai will offer an enhanced navigation system and a battery warmer system in the 2020-MY Kona Electric SUV.
The navigation system on the 2020-MY will be more than two inches larger in the Ultimate trim models, when compared to the 2019-MY. The battery warmer system, which will come standard on Limited models and above, will prevent excessively long battery-charging intervals in cold temperatures and will also be able to minimize battery-power losses caused by low winter temperatures.
Inside, the 2020-MY Kona Electric remains mostly the same as its 2019-MY counterpart and still provides a 258-mile range. The 2020-MY Kona Electric is equipped with a 64 kWh lithium-ion battery that powers a 150 kW electric motor that provides 201 hp and 291 lb.-ft. of torque.
The EPA estimates that the 2020-MY Kona Electric will net an MPGe of 132 city / 108 highway, and 120 combined.
The 2020 Kona can be charged via Level-II and Level-III charging. Charging from empty to 80% on through a Level-III charger takes about 54 minutes while Level-II charging takes about nine and a half hours, according to Hyundai.
