Hyundai Motor America is recalling an estimated 8.204 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe vehicles because the side curtain air bag mounting bolts may interfere with and damage the air bags during deployment.

In the event of a collision, if the air bags get damaged during deployment they may fail to inflate properly, increasing the likelihood of injury.

To fix the problem, Hyundai will notify owners, and dealers will install a protective cover over the installation bolts at no cost to owners.

The recall begins Nov. 30. Owners can reach Hyundai customer service at (855) 371-9460. Hyundai’s number for this recall is 177.
