2019 Subaru Forester Boosts Tech, Sheds Turbo
Subaru's 2019 Forester will enter its fifth generation with a new gasoline engine and standard EyeSight driver-assistance technology across the nameplate. Subaru will also no longer offer its turbocharged Forester XT, the company announced at the New York International Auto Show.

Subaru's 2019 Forester will enter its fifth generation with a new gasoline engine and standard EyeSight driver-assistance technology across the nameplate. Subaru will also no longer offer its turbocharged Forester XT, the company announced at the New York International Auto Show.
The 2019 Forester will be moved to the Subaru Global platform to improve driving dynamics and add interior room as well.
The compact SUV will be powered by a new 2.5-liter four-cylinder Boxer engine that makes 182 horsepower and 176 pound-feet of torque that's paired with a Lineartronic CVT (continuously variable transmission). The vehicle adds 12 hp and 2 lb.-ft. over the outgoing model.
Subaru will also begin offering the Forester Sport that includes upgraded appearance elements and enhanced standard equipment. The model will use a version of Subaru Intelligent Drive (SI-Drive) with Intelligent and Sport Sharp driving modes. The vehicle can operate in manual mode with seven speeds that can be controlled from steering wheel paddle shifters.
