Stellantis Halts Electric Ram 1500 Development, Renames Range-Extended Pickup to Ram 1500 REV
The automaker cites slowing demand for full-size battery-electric trucks in North America.

The renamed plug-in hybrid Ram 1500 REV is still scheduled for production, though a start date has not been named.

As demand for full-size battery electric trucks slows in North America, Stellantis is reassessing its product strategy and will discontinue development of a full-size BEV pickup. As part of this, Ram is renaming its REEV-powered plug-in hybrid pickup (formerly Ramcharger) to Ram 1500 REV.
Stellantis’ decision to cancel follows repeated schedule delays. What was shown in 2023 for a 2024 launch had most recently shifted to a summer 2027 production start.
Renamed Ram 1500 REV
The newly named Ram 1500 plug-in hybrid pickup is still scheduled for production. Planned for a 2025 launch, a new production date has not been named.
The PHEV pickup features a 92-kilowatt-hour (kWh) battery pack paired with an onboard 130-kW generator, sending power to 250 kW front and 238 kW rear electric drive modules (EDMs), minimizing reliance on public charging infrastructure.
