The 2024 Toyota Fleet Executive Meeting took place Oct. 14-16 at the Omni Amelia Island Resort in Fernandina Beach, Florida. The event gathered fleet managers, commercial fleet buyers, and Toyota executives to dive into new products, understand Toyota’s path to carbon neutrality by 2050, and drive Toyota vehicles

Among networking events and a ride & drive, conversations centered on fleet sales, new data and connectivity solutions, the new Crown Signia, the expansion of Toyota’s hybrid lineup, and two new, battery-electric three-row SUVs that will be produced in the U.S.

A new model for 2025, the Toyota Crown Signia Hybrid is a crossover SUV that replaces the Toyota Venza in the Toyota lineup. The Crown Signia (Limited model shown) is a step up in refinement, with more horsepower and cargo space but without the luxury badge.

Attendees check out the Crown Signia’s hybrid technology. Virtually all of Toyota’s models are now all hybrid or available as a hybrid, including Tacoma, Tundra, Land Cruiser, and Sequioa, and coming soon, 4Runner.

Toyota’s model lineup leans heavily on hybrids but also includes battery-electric vehicles (BEVs), plug-hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs), and fuel-cell electric vehicles (FCEVs) in addition to internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles.

Kevin Curran, general manager for Toyota fleet, has been with the company for 27 years but has only been in the fleet role for six months. A native of New Jersey, Curran has previously worked for Toyota in distribution, merchandising, and sales in New York, Atlanta, San Francisco, Kansas City, and Toyota headquarters in Plano, Texas.

During the business meeting, Curran was joined by Kert Wilson, senior manager of fleet sales, and Scott Allan, senior manager of fleet operations (right) to discuss the fleet outlook for the coming year. Toyota is planning for a net decrease in fleet sales in 2025 and that some popular models will still be available on an allocation basis.

“Carbon is the enemy,” said Michael Moore, vice president of Toyota’s BEV & Mobility Business. “We think the future is electrified, but we’re taking a right-product, right-customer approach that includes multiple pathways to reducing carbon emissions.”

The Toyota management team discussed Toyota’s plans for two new three-row BEV SUVs, to be produced out of a new plant in Kentucky and another in Indiana. Toyota’s electrified portfolio including BEVs will make up 80% of U.S. sales by 2030. However, 70% of the lineup will include ICE and require liquid fuels.
