The 2024 Mercedes-Benz CLA compact sedan undergoes a mid-cycle refresh with small exterior changes and more standard features. The big change for the new model year is the availability of a 48-volt mild-hybrid system on most trims. The mild-hybrid system generates 13 extra horsepower and allows for regenerative braking.
The new CLA Coupe, along with the two AMG variants (CLA 35 and CLA 45 S), will arrive at U.S. dealerships later in 2023.
What’s New
Mild-hybrid system, front and rear design, driver assistance technology, electrified powertrain, telematics system.
Model Features
The mild hybrid four-cylinder gasoline engine is equipped standard with an additional 48-volt on-board power supply that adds an extra 13 hp. The new belt-driven starter-generator enables low-vibration and low-noise engine starting as well as coasting with the combustion engine switched off. During braking and acceleration, the starter-generator recuperates and supplies the 12-volt on-board network and the 48-volt battery with electrical energy.
The upgraded standard equipment includes Highbeam Assist, a reversing camera and the USB package, in addition to the leather steering wheel and LED front headlamps. The Parking Package and Mirror Package are also included as standard equipment.
In the interior, the free-standing dual screens include a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and a 10.25-inch multimedia display. The steering wheel is upholstered in Nappa leather as standard, while a heated steering wheel is also available in the AMG Line for the first time.
The MB-Tex/microfiber seat upholstery consists largely of recycled materials, 65 percent in the middle section of the seat and 85 percent in the bottom fabric. As early as the end of this decade, Mercedes-Benz said it aims to at least halve the CO2 emissions per passenger car in the new vehicle fleet over the entire lifecycle compared to 2020.
The CLA Coupe features the latest generation of MBUX infotainment system with newly designed display styles. The central display offers all previous functions, such as navigation, media and phone, and can be operated conveniently as a touchscreen.
A new feature of the revised telematics system is wireless smartphone connectivity via Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. For further connectivity, the CLA Coupe has an additional USB-C port and increased USB charging capacity. All USB ports are also now illuminated.
The CLA Coupe is available with enhanced driver assistance technology. With the upgraded Driver Assistance Package, Lane Keeping Assist is controlled by the active steering control. The next-generation Parking Package, equipped standard, supports longitudinal parking and offers 360-degree visualization for camera-assisted parking using 3D images.
