This year will be the last for two popular GM subscompact SUVs. According to a March 11 GM Authority report, both the Buick Encore and the Chevrolet Trax will end with the 2022-MY vehicle.

The Encore debuted in the 2013 model year, and sales dropped about 52% last year, the report said. With the discontinuation, General Motors will instead shift to a focus on expanding Trailblazer production, it added.

The Chevy Trax also got its origins in 2013, though it didn't make it to the U.S. until 2015. It since has been surpassed in sales by the Chevy Trailblazer. The Chevy Spark will also end in the 2022 model year.

GM Authority noted that both cancellations were in its plans all along.

GM will end production of both South Korea-built crossovers in the third quarter of the 2022 calendar year.
