Toyota's RAV4 was the first compact SUV in the U.S. market when it arrived in the early 1990s. For 2017, the RAV4 adds the Toyota Safety Sense package on all trim levels. It runs on a 2.5L 4-cylinder engine that's paired to 6-speed transmission. The roomy compact SUV offers 38.4 cu-ft. of trunk space, and 73.4 cu-ft. with the seats down. Hyundai Motor Company held its annual Global VIP Customers Convention in the Republic of Korea on April 3 to 7. There were 90 attendees from 20 different countries representing every continent. This year’s Global VIP Customers Convention coincided with the 50th anniversary of the founding of Hyundai Motor, which in five decades has become the fifth largest auto company in the world. Ford celebrated 100 years of trucks on July 26, 2017. The date marks the centennial of the first Ford truck, the Model TT, offered to the public.
The GMC Sierra HD All Terrain X joins the lineup for the 2017 model year as the third off-road oriented GMC truck following similar treatment for the Canyon and Sierra 1500. The 2017 Fleet Safety Conference opened Tuesday with a keynote from the National Safety Council's Deborah Hersman, who also spoke on Monday at an NTSB-NSC roundtable about advanced driver assistance systems. Safety awards were given at a luncheon. The second day of the conference featured a session from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security - TSA regarding security threats against transportation fleets. Ford has introduced one of the most advanced transmissions on the market with its 2017 F-150 pickup. The 10-speed automatic transmission improves fuel economy to 25 mpg on the highway for the rear-wheel pickup and 23 mpg highway for the 4x4 model. Read our driving impressions here.
