NETS 2017 Benchmark Conference

NETS Executive Director Joe McKillips gave a state-of-the-association presentation to attendees that reinforced NETS’ growing influence in the fleet safety arena with its authoritative benchmarking data, record membership growth, and back-to-back record attendance conferences.

Phil Moser, vice president of Advanced Driver Training Services (ADTS), spoke on impaired driving within the workplace and identified employer best practices. Moser’s conclusion is that, as a nation, we have become too tolerant to impaired driving, especially when the U.S. is compared to other countries.

One of the companies exhibiting at the NETS conference was Smith System Driving, which explained its five keys to defensive driving to attendees.

A long-time supporter of NETS is SambaSafety, which also exhibited at the conference.

The Global Fleet SafeDrive Alliance, which is comprised of The CEI Group and CEPA SafeDrive, was represented at the NETS conference by (l to r) CEI’s Ken Latzko and Joe Kinniry, and CEPA CEO Fernando Cammarota.

The attendees at the 2017 NETS conference was exemplified by Kristin Leary (left), global fleet manager for inVentiv, and Sandy Lee, director, worldwide fleet safety for Johnson & Johnson. Lee was also a past NETS president.

The 2017 NETS conference attracted a record 196 attendees. In addition, NETS membership is also at record levels. One initiative for NETS in 2018 is to explore the feasibility of offering a global fleet safety track to its conference curriculum.

Driving Dynamics was an exhibitor at the NETS conference.

Reagan Terrill, SSH&E Manager for Exxon Mobil, spoke at the NETS conference on best practices in detecting distracted driving using the energy company as a Case study. The guiding principle at Exxon Mobil is “A job is done well only if it is done safely.”

The Network of Employers for Traffic Safety (NETS) held its annual Benchmark Conference in Charlottesville, Va., on Oct. 11-12, 2017. One of the association’s key accomplishments was the addition of its first utility fleet - Consolidated Edison - to its board of directors.
