2020 Chicago Auto Show

The Chicago Auto Show was highlighted by the unveiling of several refreshed SUVs, updated alt-fuel vehicles, and more. The show is being held at McCormick Place from Feb. 8 - 17, 2020. Photos by Andy Lundin.

Toyota debuted seven new SUV and pickup truck variants at the Chicago Auto Show, including the 2021 Toyota Highlander XSE. The fourth-generation Highlander includes a specially tuned handling suspension, unique exterior styling, and exclusive interior trim and is powered by a 3.5-liter V6, an eight-speed automatic transmission, and offers 295 hp. It's available in AWD.

The refreshed 2021 Equinox made an appearance at the Chicago Auto Show. New to the Equinox for the MY-2021 includes a RS trim, and more available safety and driver assistance features. In 2019, the Chevrolet Equinox was awarded Automotive Fleet’s inaugural Fleet SUV of the Year award.

Nissan revealed the 2020 Frontier, which is highlighted by a new 3.8-liter direct injection V6 engine and 9-speed automatic transmission, which will also lead the way for the next generation of Frontier models. The 2020 Frontier will go on sale in spring 2020.

The 2020 Sonata Hybrid was also introduced at the Chicago Auto Show, and boasts 686 miles of driving range. Its Blue trim, the most efficient trim announced, features an EPA mpg rating of 50 city/54 highway/52 combined. The hybrid Sonata is also equipped with solar panels integrated into the roof, which are used to help charge the vehicle’s hybrid batteries.

Jaguar introduced the new 2021 Jaguar F-Type at the Chicago Auto Show, which is available in four-, six- and eight-cylinder options, which are all matched to an eight-speed Quickshift transmission. Each engine is equipped with an active exhaust system, and includes a 12.3-inch instrument cluster and touch pro infotainment system.

Ford also displayed its all-new Mustang Mach-E electric SUV, which will be available with standard and extended-range battery options with either rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive powered by permanent magnet motors. It has an EPA-estimated range of at least 300 miles and was first debuted prior to the LA Auto Show.

FCA announced several updates to its Pacifica minivan in Chicago, including the addition of an optional all-wheel-drive system, the new Pinnacle luxury trim, and the all-new standard  Uconnect 5 system, which features a 10.1-inch touch screen and more connected services and features.

Mercedes-Benz revealed its 2020 Metris Weekender pop up camper van at the Chicago Auto Show. The van comes standard with an elevating roof with a sleeping area for two, a 2-inch memory foam mattress, and other practical features for extended and leisurely travel.

The 2021 Volkswagen Atlas was unveiled at the Chicago Auto Show, and is highlighted by new driver-assistance features, technological upgrades, and a refreshed appearance. Also new is an update to its Car-Net Telematics system, which connects users with and monitor the vehicle from a smartphone.
