Electric vehicles are a major part of the public zeitgeist as it pertains to a sustainable future. As transportation accounts for 27% of greenhouse gas emissions in the U.S. — the largest percentage of any sector — fleets are intrinsically involved in this revolution.

However, fleets face considerably more choices and challenges than consumers to electrify. From implementing charging infrastructure, choosing the right vehicles, and connecting them to your systems to calculating EV ownership costs and onboarding drivers, the educational process is one of the biggest challenges fleets will face. And answers aren’t easily gathered from web searches or the flood of EV-related emails in fleet managers’ inboxes.

That’s why the mandate of the Fleet Forward Conference (FFC) is to help organizations understand a realistic, fleet-centric path forward on all new technologies, particularly electrification.

At the 2022 FFC, convening Nov. 9-11 in Santa Clara, California, this mandate manifests in the educational sessions. No matter where fleets are on the journey to transition to EVs, FFC will have the information and insights from industry experts and fleet first-adopters who will share their learnings from on-the-ground applications.

EV-focused sessions include the following.

“The Future is Electric: Simplifying EVs for Your Drivers”

Nov. 9; 11:30 a.m. to noon

Your drivers are your greatest assets so prepare to guide them when it comes to electrification. John Donahue, vice president of EV product strategy for Fleetcor, is on the forefront of supporting fleets that are undergoing the transformation to electric vehicles. In this kick-off session, he’ll discuss ways to help drivers navigate multiple charging scenarios and rethink how payments for fleet energy will be handled.

“Building a Connected Data Ecosystem for Electric Fleets”

Nov. 10; 9:15 a.m. to 10 a.m.

A quartet of experts with an eye on metrics will help fleets understand the data they’ll need from home, depot, and public chargers as well as vehicles and drivers. This impressive panel will also provide strategies so fleet managers can make data actionable and drive EV fleet efficiencies.

“Calculating TCO for EV Fleets”

Nov. 10; 11:15 a.m. to noon

Money makes the world go round, and fleets are no exception. Black Book’s Alex Yurchenko will present data and analysis on EV wholesale values, and then deep dive into the factors comprising total cost of ownership for electric versus ICE vehicles, annual vehicle miles traveled, replacement timelines, fueling costs, charging installation costs, local and federal rebates, various procurement structures, and more.

Large-Scale Fleet Electrification: Trailblazers' Forum”

Nov. 10; 2:15 p.m. to 3 p.m.

Two trailblazing fleet managers — Aleece Beaulieu of Genentech and Harry Rogers of GlaxoSmithKline — are knee deep in their electrification journeys. They’ll offer valuable lessons on building out charging infrastructure for at-home, public, and depot charging, in-fleeting new models, educating drivers, setting up connected ecosystems, and more. They will also speak to challenges they are still trying to solve so attendees are fully prepared for the hurdles to expect.

“The Straight Dope on Fleeting EVs”

Nov. 10; 2:15 p.m. to 3 pm

A trio of panelists from Fluid Truck, Pritchard Companies, and Zeem Solutions are first in on the heralded new electric models just out in the market and have on-the-ground feedback to share around vehicle performance, charging, operational strategies, driver education and acceptance, and more.

“Data-Driven Learnings from Early EV Deployments”

Nov. 11; 8:45 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.

Two entrepreneurs whose respective companies are helping to enable and accelerate the EV transition for fleets serve as panelists in this stimulating session. They’ll analyze data around charging implementation by fleet and charging type (depot, residential, retail) battery health over time, EV utilization and duty cycles, and other factors such as weather, vehicle range, and more.

For 2022, the Fleet Forward Conference is combined with the Fleet Safety Conference. Registration is now open.
