Ford Motor Company is recalling an estimated 382,759 SUVs. These include 2020-2023 Explorer, Lincoln Aviator, and 2020-2022 Lincoln Corsair vehicles equipped with a 360-degree camera. The problem is that video output may fail, preventing the rearview camera image from displaying on the touchscreen.

This is a dangerous scenario as loss of the rearview camera image can reduce the driver’s rear visibility, increasing the likelihood of a collision. According to the automaker, Ford has received 2,000 warranty reports regarding the problem and is aware of 17 minor crashes as a result of the issue.

To fix the problem, dealers will update the image processing module (IPMB) software at no cost to owners.

Owner notification letters will be mailed on Feb. 20. Owners can reach Ford customer service at (866) 436-7332. Ford's reference number for this recall is 23S02. This recall expands and replaces NHTSA recall number 21V-735. Vehicles previously repaired under 21V-735 will need to have the new remedy performed.
