Southern California Ports Plan for Zero-Emission Trucks

The Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach have released a draft of a proposed 2017 Clean Air Action Plan Update, outlining a new set of aggressive near-term and long-term strategies to reduce air pollution from the ports.

Hybrid Truck Project Launches in Southern Calif.

DIAMOND BAR, CA -- The South Coast Air Quality Management District (AQMD) is now working with Volvo, Capstone Turbine Corp. and Kenworth Truck Co. on a new commercial hybrid truck project. In November, AQMD approved $1.56 million to develop and demonstrate two hybrid trucks in partnership with the truck manufacturers.

LONG BEACH, CA - The South Coast Air Quality Management District on June 4 awarded more than $34 million in state and federal grants to replace 598 trucks operating at the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach, as well as trucks delivering goods across the region, the Daily Breeze newspaper reported.
