Hyundai, Kia to Offer A.I. Personal Assistants in 2019 Vehicles
Hyundai Motor Co. and Kia Motors plan to add a voice-activated personal assistant to their 2019 models that will be unveiled at CES 2018 in early January, Hyundai has announced.

Hyundai Motor Co. and Kia Motors plan to add a voice-activated personal assistant to their 2019 models that will be unveiled at CES 2018 in early January, Hyundai has announced.
Intelligent Personal Agent (IPA), which is being developed with SoundHound and based on the platform Houndify, will allow drivers to control a variety of automotive functions with voice commands. The system will be set up to predict driver needs and facilitate vehicle functions, according to a release.
The Korean automakers hope to offer it across their respective lineups by 2025, reports Korea IT News. The system will be rolled out in the new Veloster, which will be released in January.
Unlike other systems, IPA will offer "multiple-command recognition" that allows drivers to give the system two commands at the same time, such as providing the weather report and turning off the lights.
In early 2018, Hyundai will begin testing the IPA in its hydrogen fuel cell vehicles, and will test it on Korean roads. The system will initially understand English.
