General Motors CEO Mary Barra met with President Donald Trump on Feb. 3 and engaged in "very constructive discussion," the automotive leader said.
The meeting was the latest as part of Trump's Strategic and Policy economy forum that also included Tesla, Inc. CEO Elon Musk and Blackstone Group CEO Stephen Schwarzman, reported the Detroit News. Uber CEO Travis Kalanick resigned from the panel on Thursday amid protests over Trump's refugee travel ban that was blocked by a federal judge late Friday, reported the Associated Press.
Trump has been hosting ongoing meetings with automotive leaders. Last week, he met with Ford Motor Co. Chairman Bill Ford and President and CEO Mark Fields, as well as Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV CEO Sergio Marchionne.
Barra released a statement following the Jan. 3 meeting.
"I’m pleased to have been part of a very constructive discussion on how we can all work together on policies that support a strong and competitive U.S. economy, create jobs and address safety and environmental issues," Barra said. "As we have stated, a vibrant U.S. economy that is competitive globally and that grows jobs is what we all want."
