Volvo Cars has announced an expanded partnership with Google to accelerate the incorporation of the latest Android Automotive OS innovations for customers who own Volvo models with Google built in.
This expansion integrates Google Gemini Artificial Intelligence (AI) into these Volvo models, making their drivers among the first to experience conversational AI technology built into a vehicle.
Patrick Brady, Vice President of Android for Cars at Google, said, “For years, Google and Volvo Cars have collaborated closely to bring cutting-edge technology to connected cars. We’re excited to deepen this partnership, accelerating the pace of innovation that will not only improve the driving experience for Volvo customers but also set new benchmarks for the automotive industry,” according to a recent press release.
Volvo cars will now serve as a lead development partner for new Google features and updates, before adding them to the main Android codebase.
The Google Gemini update will be rolled out later this year.
