The GMC Sierra HD All Terrain X joins the lineup for the 2017 model year as the third off-road oriented GMC truck following similar treatment for the Canyon and Sierra 1500. The 2017 Fleet Safety Conference opened Tuesday with a keynote from the National Safety Council's Deborah Hersman, who also spoke on Monday at an NTSB-NSC roundtable about advanced driver assistance systems. Safety awards were given at a luncheon. The second day of the conference featured a session from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security - TSA regarding security threats against transportation fleets. The conference closed with a presentation from Shell's Karen Spring about the company's mission to eliminate fleet fatalities.  Read more here. Photos by Andy Lundin and Jim Park.

Ford has introduced one of the most advanced transmissions on the market with its 2017 F-150 pickup. The 10-speed automatic transmission improves fuel economy to 25 mpg on the highway for the rear-wheel pickup and 23 mpg highway for the 4x4 model.
