General Motors revealed an image of its next-generation 2016 Chevrolet Volt with a photo and short profile of how the automaker is camouflaging the vehicle prior to its introduction in January at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit.

The Volt battery-electric hybrid is expected to get a significant redesign for the 2016 model year, and may be offered in a lower-priced version. The more affordable Volt would likely have a smaller battery pack and shorter driving range.

Andrew Farah, the chief engineer for the 2016 Volt, and his team has been driving camouflaged Volts to validate ride, handling and powertrain performance.
