LOS ANGELES – Ford unveiled its new Fiesta and its new Transit Connect Wagon at the Los Angeles Auto Show.

Starting with the 2014-MY Fiesta, the vehicle comes in two variants, a four-door model equipped with the aforementioned 1.0L EcoBoost engine and a five-door hatchback equipped with a 1.6L four-cylinder engine. Transmission options include a manual five-speed to go with the 1.0L EcoBoost four-door model, a Ti-VCT five-speed manual transmission paired with the 1.6L four-cylinder, and a Ti-VCT four-cylinder, six-speed PowerShift automatic transmission.

When it comes to fuel economy, Ford said the 1.6L with the manual transmission gets 29 city, 38 highway mpg. The 1.6L with the automatic transmission gets 30 mpg city, 40 mpg highway. The automaker expects the car to get 40 miles per gallon with Ford’s 123 hp 1.0L EcoBoost engine. Trim levels include S, SE, and Titanium.

Other features in the new vehicle include a new MyFord Touch system with a 6.5-inch touchscreen, enhanced voice control, Bluetooth, and MP3 playback. The Fiesta will also offer SYNC AppLink capabilities, which allow drivers to access and control smartphone apps, approved by Ford, using both voice commands and in-vehicle controls.

On the outside, the redesigned exterior features a new grille and new color options. On the inside, leather seats and a new Sony HD audio/satellite radio with eight premium speakers are options.

Ford is also offering its MyKey system to the Fiesta, which enables vehicle owners to limit the vehicle’s top speed, set audio system volume limits, and mutes the audio system until the driver has fastened his or her seatbelts.

In terms of safety, the Fiesta features Ford’s AdvanceTrac with Electronic Stability Control; dual-stage first-row airbags; a driver knee airbag; side-impact airbags; side-curtain airbags; a four-wheel anti-lock braking system; LATCH (Lower Anchors and Tethers for Children); and improved side-impact safety, according to Ford. The subcompact also comes with a tire pressure monitoring system, an anti-theft engine immobilizer; and child-safety rear locks.

Ford also offers a five-door hatchback Fiesta ST version with a six-speed manual transmission. This model will come with a 1.6L four-cylinder EcoBoost engine that can produce 197 horsepower and 214 lb.-ft. of torque.

Moving on to the 2014 Transit Connect Wagon (which you can read more about here), Ford brought the long and short wheelbase models to the show, which are shown in the images below. Available in three trim levels, XL, XLT, and Titanium, the Transit Connect Wagon is the passenger version of the Transit Connect.

Ford plans to offer a cargo version of this vehicle as well. The Transit Connect Wagon will offer two engine options, a 2.5L four-cylinder and an optional 1.6L EcoBoost that the company expects to get better than 30 mpg highway fuel economy. Each engine is matched with a six-speed automatic transmission.

In the short wheelbase model (the five-passenger version), the second row seats fold down. The long wheelbase model (the seven-passenger model) comes with fold-flat seats in the back, which allow for plenty of cargo room, more than 100 cu. ft., according to Ford, and a 1,200-lb. payload capacity. Beyond cargo room, the Transit Connect Wagon can tow up to 2,000 lbs.
