Buick will offer the Regal Sportback hatchback sedan and Regal TourX rugged station wagon for 2018, as the brand hopes to capitalize on the increasing popularity of crossovers and SUVs.

The Regal Sportback, which is available in front- and all-wheel drive, will arrive with a sporty coupe-like design and hatchback that enables easier access to cargo space that has been more than doubled (to 31.5 cubic feet) from the outgoing model.

A 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that makes 250 hp and 260 lb.-ft. of torque (FWD) and 295 lb.-ft. of torque (AWD) powers both vehicles.

The Regal Sportback will be agailable in four trim levels, including Regal, Preferred, Preferred II and Essence.

Buick will also offer the Regal TourX that it hopes will compete against the Volvo V60 Cross Country, Audi A4 Allroad, BMW 3-Series Sport Wagon and Subaru Outback. The TourX rides higher than the Sportback, and provides 73.5 cubic feet of storage with the second seating row folded down.

Three trim levels include TourX, Preferred, and Essence.

Both vehicles offer a new standard safety feature known as an active hood pedestrian safety system that senses the imminent impact of a pedestrian between 16 to 30 mph and uses a pyrotechnic actuator to lift the back of the hood up about 4 inches to lessen the impact and potentially reduce injury.
