Mercedes-Benz will roll out its 2017 E-Class mid-size luxury sedan with new interior features such as a high-resolution display that appears to hover in space, finger-swipe controls for the infotainment system, and touch-sensitive steering wheel buttons as a first for the automaker.
Mercedes-Benz is also upgrading materials to provide a "sensual interior" and increasing space for the driver and passengers, according to a release.
Rather than implementing a single infotainment screen, Mercedes-Benz is implementing a wide screen instrument cluster that features a 31.2-inch display with a resolution of 1920-by-720 pixels and two displays.
The dual central displays are highly configurable with informative graphics and animations.
High-grade interior materials include open-pore woods and "a novel metal fabric," according to the automaker. Drivers can configure interior lighting with 64 different colors. LED lighting enhances ambient lighting.
The 2017 E-Class will also get new headlights with multiple beams and a double-torch configuration. Mercedes-Benz has added what it's describing as a global first dynamic cornering light function and a host of adaptive light functions to make night-time driving safer, such as bad-weather lights, a City light and a navigation-based junction light, according to the automaker.
