CHERRY HILL, NJ - Subaru has released information and the first official photos of its all-new 2014-MY Forester crossover SUV, which the automaker said will debut at the Los Angeles Auto Show, Nov. 28 – Dec. 9. The fourth generation of the Forester will offer a new 2.0L four-cylinder direct-injection turbocharged “BOXER” engine capable of producing up to 250 hp. Subaru will also offer the naturally aspirated 2.5L four-cylinder BOXER engine used in the outgoing edition of the Forester. That engine is capable of producing up to 170 hp.
According to a Subaru spokesperson, the automaker is estimating that the Forester will achieve fuel economy of 32 mpg highway.
Subaru hasn’t released fuel economy estimates for the new engine yet but stated that it will be higher for both engines due to the debut of a new six-speed manual transmission and an available Lineartronic continuously variable transmission (CVT).
The all-new five-passenger model features a refined or new suspension system that provides better handling and ride quality, according to Subaru, plenty of interior room (more rear seat legroom and cargo space), an available infotainment system that features smartphone integration, navigation, a rear view camera, and harman/kardon audio amplifier and speakers.
The model with the 2.5L engine will come with 17-inch aluminum alloy wheels with 225/60 R17 all-season tires, and the 2.0L model with come with 18-inch aluminum alloy wheels with 225/55 R18 all-season tires.
