Ford Recalling 2013 MY Escapes, 2012 MY F-650 and F-750 Trucks
WASHINGTON – Ford Motor Co. is issuing two vehicle recalls – one covering 8,266 2013 model-year Escapes and another covering 783 2012 model-year F-650 and F-750 trucks.
The Escape recall covers Escape crossover vehicles manufactured from March 8 through June 7 of this year. Because of mispositioned carpet padding, the center console trim panel may be pushed outboard of the intended position, reducing clearance to the gas pedal. This reduced clearance may result in the driver’s foot contacting the side of the brake pedal while transferring the foot from the accelerator pedal to the brake. This problem could increase both stopping distances and the risk of a crash, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
To remedy the problem, Ford dealers will remove the carpet padding and replace the affected console trim panel. There will be no charge for this service. The recall is expected to get under way around July 23.
The truck recall covers 783 2012 model-year Ford F-650 and F-750 vehicles manufactured from Feb. 1 through March 16 of this year. The clear and black primer may be missing on certain windshields, which may result in an insufficient bond between the glass and cab structure. This could result in a separation of the windshield from the cab, posing a safety risk.
Dealers will remove and inspect the windshield for urethane adhesion, and they will replace or reinstall the windshield as required. There will be no charge for this service. This recall is expected to get under way this week.
