The Jeep Cherokee Diesel will debut at the Geneva Motor Show and be available in Europe by July 1, the Chrysler Group announced Monday.

The diesel version of the revamped 2014 Cherokee mid-size SUV, which launched in the U.S. in 2013, will offer a 2.0L Multijet II Turbo diesel expected to deliver 170 horsepower and about 258 lb.-ft. of torque. It will have stop-start technology.

Chrysler will also offer a low-output version of the diesel engine and two gasoline engines. A nine-speed automatic is paired with the 170 hp engine, while a six-speed gearbox is paired with the 140 hp engine.

The European line-up also includes the 3.2L V-6 Pentastar gasoline engine paired to the new nine-speed automatic transmission to produce 272 hp and about 232 lb.-ft. of torque. In Russia and the Middle East, the Cherokee will also be offered with the 2.4L Tigershark MultiAir inline four gasoline engine.

Three four-wheel drive systems will include rear-axle disconnect, which improves fuel economy and uses 4WD when neccessary.

The vehicle will arrive in three trim levels — Longitude, Limited, and Trailhawk. The vehicle will make its debut at the Geneva Motor Show on March 4.
