The event, which was attended by over 120 people, culminated with a groundbreaking ceremony for an onsite CNG station that will be built by Smith Dairy Trucking. The station will be for both public and private use, and is slated open sometime in July. According to the company, the CNG station is representative of Smith Dairy's commitment to sustainable living, and brings Smith Dairy Trucking one step closer to its goal of being completely diesel independent by the year 2030.

The Smith Dairy CNG station will be the first one installed in Ohio by a private business that will be also open to the public. The company is funding the construction itself with no help from government sources. The company has six CNG-dedicated Class 8 vehicles on order from Freightliner.
