MURRAY HILL, N.J. --- Linde North America, a leading gases and engineering company, has been recognized by the Compressed Gas Association (CGA) for fleet safety in 2007.

For the third consecutive year, Linde received the CGA's Fleet Safety award for the safe driving of its cylinder trucks in the over 3 million-mile category.

This award is given by the industry trade group to a member company with the lowest frequency rate of vehicle accidents per miles driven. Linde North America, a member of The Linde Group, received the award at the CGA's annual meeting in Florida.

In 2007, Linde's fleet of about 600 trucks in Canada and the U.S. covered 20.7 million miles. These drivers supply customers in all 10 of Canada's provinces with a range of industrial, medical and specialty gases for use in applications ranging from welding to healthcare and laboratory testing. In the U.S., drivers deliver helium, hydrogen, packaged and electronic gases as well as medical oxygen, breathing mixtures and related devices for Linde's Life Gas business.

"Receiving this award is a major step toward achieving our vision of leading the industry in safety, health, environment and quality," said Pat Murphy, president of Linde North America. The Linde Group has more than 50,000 employees working in about 100 countries worldwide.

Migration to 4-Cylinder Engines Continues with 2010-MY Ordering

By Mike Antich
The ongoing volatility of gasoline prices has prompted a growing number of fleets to transition to four-cylinder engines. This transition started in the 2008-MY and accelerated with 2009-MY ordering, when gas prices surpassed $4 per gallon in the summer of 2008. Early indications are that the migration to four-cylinder engines will continue with 2010-MY ordering. We have already seen glimpses of this trend in the 2010 RFPs submitted to major OEMs.
