TORRANCE, CA – Fleet professionals wondering just how accurate vehicle safety ratings are from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) will have the opportunity to find out next month at the Fleet Safety Conference in Schaumburg, Ill.

A panel discussion, “Comparing NHTSA and IIHS Safety Ratings to Real-World Experience,” will take place May 23 from 10:30-11:15 a.m. and will feature representatives from both agencies. Dan Smith, NHTSA’s senior associate administrator for vehicle safety, and Joe Nolan, chief administrative officer/vice president of vehicle research for IIHS, will be on-site to discuss actual dollar loss and injury experience using real-world fleet data versus NHTSA and IIHS rating systems.

The session is just one of 18 designed specifically to help fleets attain the highest level of safety in their operations.
