EPA Reports Increase in Avg. Fuel Efficiency for Cars and Light-Duty Trucks

WASHINGTON – For the fourth consecutive year, the EPA is reporting an increase in the average fuel efficiency for cars and light-duty trucks, to a projected 20.8 miles per gallon for 2008.

EPA Cleaning Up West Coast Diesel Engines

SAN FRANCISCO – As part of an initiative to significantly reduce diesel emissions in Alaska, Arizona, California, Hawaii, Idaho, Nevada, Oregon, Washington, and the U.S. Pacific Islands, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) Regions 9 and 10 have announced a regional competition through the West Coast Collaborative, for more than $5 million to deploy verified or certified clean diesel technologies.

States Sue EPA for Inaction

BOSTON --- Eighteen states are taking the Environmental Protection Agency back to court in an effort to force the agency to comply with a Supreme Court ruling that rebuked the Bush administration for inaction on global warming, the Associated Press reported.
