LOS ANGELES --- Gas prices are still plummeting throughout Southern California and are now at their lowest level in nearly two years, according to the Automobile Club of Southern California's Weekend Gas Watch.

The average price of self-serve regular gasoline in the Los Angeles-Long Beach area is $2.518 per gallon, which is 21.2 cents less than last week, 91 cents lower than last month, and 82 cents under last year.

In San Diego, the price is $2.477, which is 20.8 cents under last week's price, 93 cents below last month, and 89 cents lower than last year. On the Central Coast, the average price is $2.564, down 22.6 cents from last week, 98 cents below last month, and 89 cents below last year.

In the Inland Empire, the average per gallon price is $2.466, which is 20.3 cents under last week, down 94 cents from last month, and 88 cents less than last year.

"We haven't seen local prices this low since January 2007," said Auto Club spokesperson Jeffrey Spring. "This may make Thanksgiving travel much more affordable for many families, because gas prices are almost a dollar lower than last Thanksgiving, more than $1.25 lower than during this past Labor Day weekend and more than two dollars lower than during this year’s Fourth of July holiday."
