Ford's 2020 Escape

We tested the 2020 Ford Escape SE, which has an MSRP of $27,105. The vehicle provided a good driving experience as well as respectable fuel economy. Read our Driving Notes here. Photos by Eric Gandarilla. 

All trims of the 2020 Ford Escape comes standard with Ford Co-Pilot360 which offers safety features such as automatic emergency braking, cross traffic alert, a lane keeping system, auto high beam, and a reverse camera. 

With the seats folded up, the Escape offers 33.5 cu.ft. of cargo space. 

With the seats folded down, the Escape offers 65.4 cu.ft. of cargo space.

The SE trim we drove featured a 1.5L EcoBoost engine mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission that makes 180 hp and 177 lb.-ft. of torque. We saw above 30 mpg on highways and mpg in the mid 20s in the city. 

The driver and front passenger seats were comfortable. FordPass Connect, which provides 4G LTE Wi-Fi and gives drivers access to their Escape through their smartphone, is a standard feature. 

Switching from park, reverse, neutral, and drive is done using a dial. 

The 2020 Ford Escape features a redesigned exterior. 

The model we drove featured a standard gasoline engine, but Ford is offering hybrid and plug-in variants of the 2020 Ford Escape. 

Ford has incorporated more high-strength, lightweight steel, and as a result has made the 2020 Ford Escape 200 pounds lighter than the previous model year.
