The combination of the Turbo Diesel engine and an 8-speed automatic transmission propels the 328d from 0-60 mph lapse time in appoximately 7 seconds.
The 328d’s 2.0 liter, 4-cylinder TwinPower Turbo Diesel engine — a first for the U.S. market — produces 180 hp and 280 lb.-ft of torque, available from 1,750 rpm.

BMW first began maraketing diesel engines in the U.S. in the early 1980s. The latest diesel option is currently rated at an EPA-estimated 45 mpg.
