All models come standard with a SKYACTIV-G 2.5 engine and six-speed SKYACTIVE-DRIVE automatic transmission.

Three trim levels are available for the 2017 CX-5 refresh: the Sport, Touring and Grand Touring.

Many improvements were made in the 2017 refresh to make the cabin quieter.

All trim levels come standard with forward-wheel drive. All-wheel drive options are also available for all models.

A SKYACTIV-D 2.2-liter engine diesel option, which according to Mazda, promises high torque, quick response, and hybrid-like fuel efficiency, is slated for release later this year.

The MSRP for the base 2017 CX-5 starts at about $24,000. The Grand Touring Premium Package, pictured, comes in at a little over $33,000.

With all seats upright, the 2017 CX-5 has 30.9 cubic feet of cargo space and with the second row seats folded down, that number grows to 59.6 cubic feet.

For optimal driver comfort, the steering wheel has been positioned so that it sits at the very center of the driver, an attention to detail that the manufacturer says is sometimes neglected.
