The average price of a gallon of unleaded gasoline remained unchanged at $2.78 per gallon for the week ending June 8, according to data from the U.S. Energy Information Administration.

Average prices increased in six of the nine regions tracked by the federal agency with the sharpest increase of 5.3 cents coming in the Gulf Coast region ($2.536). The biggest drop came on the West Coast with a 6.7-cent decline to $3.377.

Gasoline costs an average of at least $3 per gallon in seven states, including California (leading the list at $3.608), Alaska, Hawaii, Nevada, Washington, Utah, and Oregon. It costs less than $2.50 per gallon in three states, including Arkansas, Mississippi, and South Carolina (the lowest on the list at $2.455).

Meanwhile, the average price of diesel fell 2.5 cents to $2.884. Diesel is now $1.008 less than it was a year ago.
