The average price of a gallon on unleaded increased 3 cents to $2.774 per gallon for the week ending May 25, the U.S. Department of Energy reported.
The price is now 90 cents higher that the same week from a year ago, and marks six consecutive weeks of climbing fuel prices. Gasoline prices rose in eight of the nine regions tracked by the agency's Energy Information Administration. The average price moved higher by 5.8 cents to $2.655 in the Midwest. The West Coast was the sole region that saw a decline; gasoline fell 2.6 cents to $3.487.
