Audi brought its new TDI clean diesel models to the LA Auto Show.

LOS ANGELES – Audi announced it plans to roll out TDI clean diesel-equipped models of its A8, A7, A6, and Q5 vehicles at the LA Auto Show. The automaker also showed an updated version of its Q7 TDI at the event.

The 2014-MY A8 TDI gets 24 mpg city, 36 highway, Audi stated, and the addition of this model expands that vehicle’s lineup to five different models. The lineup now includes the entry-level A8 3.0T V-6; the 420 hp A8 4.0T V-8; the new Audi S8 4.0T V-8; the A8 6.0L W12; and the new A8 3.0 TDI V6. The new 3.0L TDI clean diesel engine can generate 240 hp and produce 406 lb.-ft. of torque. It can go from 0 to 60 in 6.4 seconds.

The 2014 A7 TDI features Audi connect, which enables Google Earth maps, Google Local Search, and a WiFi hotspot for up to eight devices and MMI navigation plus with 3D Google Earth maps.

The 2014 A6 TDI features a number of systems in addition to the updated powertrain. They include driver assistance systems such as Audi’s night vision assistant, a head-up display, and Audi pre sense plus that helps detect an oncoming collision and initiates measures to protect vehicle occupants. Other available features include a head-up display and MMI touch, which recognizes handwriting, along with the available Audi connect.

The 2014 Audi Q5 TDI will get improved fuel economy, according to Audi, and is the fourth engine choice for the Q5 lineup. Other choices include the four-cylinder 2.0T, the 3.0T V-6, and the Q5 hybrid.

The 2013-MY Audi Q7 TDI sees a fuel-economy improvement of 10% compared to gasoline engines, according to Audi, and can produce 240 hp and 406 lb. ft. of torque. Fuel economy for the updated TDI is 19 city, 28 highway, and the vehicle has a range of 700 miles per tank, Audi stated.

In terms of availability, the A8 TDI will be available in spring of 2013, and the A7, A6, and Q5 TDI models will be available in fall 2013. Audi said it will announce pricing for these models at a later date.
