Orkin Purchases New GPS Technology for Its Fleet Operations

March 15, 2004

Rollins, Inc., through its wholly-owned consumer service subsidiary, Orkin, Inc., signed an agreement on March 15 to purchase the GEOTAB GPS fleet management solution from Global Resource Group.

After thorough examination and trials of several systems, the GPS committee within Rollins selected GEOTAB based on the functionality for risk management, fleet management, and branch/sales support.

GEOTAB ( uses high-resolution GPS recording technology. The PC software used to drive GEOTAB pinpoints driving activity using Microsoft MapPoint technology.

By 2005, the GEOTAB Microsoft SQL centralized database will contain the information of more than 4,000 vehicles at over 300 branches nationwide. This centralization enables branch, regional, and national information to be generated on demand.
