GAINESVILLE, GA – Black Book released a list of the top 5 vehicle segment resale value drops for 2012 in its car and truck segment categories. These changes are in line with Black Book's forecast of falling resale values from earlier this year.

The two biggest segment drops for the first six months of 2012 are the Near Luxury Car and Full-Size Van Cargo categories, at -5.7% and -6.2% respectively. The table below shows the percentage drops, and average value, for each of the categories between Jan. 6 and July 6, 2012.

“Several factors have led to these price declines at the wholesale level, including more trade-ins adding to used inventory,” said Ricky Beggs, analyst at Black Book. "Seasonality is also in play here as we're seeing adjustments ahead of the new 2013 model year."
