Fleet Safety Seminar: Navigating Fleet Liability and Nuclear Verdicts
At the 2021 Fleet Safety Experience, panelists from Tyson & Mendes, Virginia Tech Transportation Institute, and Predictive Coach will discuss today’s liability climate and how fleets can protect themselves from eight-figure nuclear verdicts.

Panelists will tackle the subject from legal, research, and operational perspectives.
Eight-figure nuclear verdicts involving commercial fleets are on the rise. What can they do to better protect their organizations and keep their drivers and other safe on the road?
Moderated by Jim Park of Heavy Duty Trucking, a Fleet Safety Experience seminar (on Sept. 21 at 3:30 p.m. EST) will help companies navigate fleet liability when facing nuclear verdicts.
Ed Leonard from Tyson & Mendes law firm will discuss what’s fueling the trend of nuclear verdicts and provide steps to help fleets mitigate potential litigation. Matt Camden of the Virginia Tech Transportation Institute (VTTI) will present research from the Institute on driver behavior, safety culture, and safety technologies.
Additionally, the seminar will feature on-the-ground learnings. Mauricio Berber, president of Predictive Coach and RMJ Technologies, will identify bad driving technologies as well as create targeted driver training to promote a safer overall fleet.
“Our panelists, leaders in their fields, will tackle liability protections from the legal, research, and real-world perspectives,” said Chris Brown, conference chair. “Attendees will be able to refine their safety policies to better protect their drivers and the public.”
“Navigating Fleet Liability and Nuclear Verdicts” will take place on Sept. 21 at 3:30 pm EST. The 2021 Fleet Safety Experience convenes virtually Sept. 21-23.
