The international automotive business showed positive growth in Europe and the U.S. in July. Western Europe expanded by nearly 9 percent, and growth also continued in the U.S. (up 5 percent). China, by contrast, recorded a fall of almost 6 percent.
On April 22, the European Parliament passed amendments to Directive 96/53 governing the dimensions and weights of commercial vehicles.
Global automotive growth was seen in the passenger car markets in Western Europe (+6 percent) and Japan (+19 percent), while, in China, demand for passenger cars recorded a double-digit increase (+22 percent).
Overall, the major automotive markets ended the year on a high note, according to research released by a German automotive trade association.
