S.C. Texting Ban Supersedes Local Ordinances

South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley on June 10 signed into law a bill banning texting while driving. The new law, which takes effect immediately, prohibits drivers from using a handheld device to compose, send or read text-based messages while driving. But in some local jurisdictions, including the City of Greenville, the new law means a relaxation of distracted driving restrictions.
