The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety gives its highest safety accolades to the mid-size luxury car.
Toyota is recalling an estimated 560 2019 Lexus ES luxury sedans because the driver knee airbag may not have been properly fastened to the instrument assembly during the production process.
The recall covers more than 1,700 luxury vehicles in the 2017 model year.
The Toyota recall includes approximately 1,760 2017-model year luxury cars in the U.S.
The recall expansion, due to get under way in February, affects approximately 543,000 additional vehicles in the U.S.
The ES350 entry luxury sedan may not be as sporty as some of its competitors but it provides a tasteful, pleasing mixture of plush interior creature comforts and a softer ride that smooths out roadway bumps.

This safety recall expansion involves approximately 1,584,000 additional Toyota vehicles in the U.S., including older Corolla, 4Runner and Lexus ES vehicles.
The recall, which also includes Lexus RX 350 SUVs, covers 2016 models that may have damaged brake actuator assemblies.
The safety recall covers about 31,000 2013-2015 model-year Avalon, Avalon Hybrid, Lexus ES350 and ES300h sedans.
