Road Salt Spells Trouble for Cars

Repeated seasonal exposure to road salt can make older vehicles -- model year 2007 and earlier -- more susceptible to brake pipe corrosion. Drivers with vehicles this old are advised to regularly wash the undercarriage throughout the winter, and to thoroughly clean the vehicle at the end of winter. Ford Recalls Edge SUVs for Fire Risk

Ford is recalling 204,448 Ford Edge and Lincoln MKX SUVs in North American states that use road salt for snow and ice removal. Potential fuel leaks can arise from corrosion.
