The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety recently evaluated two all-electric cars, the Tesla Model S and the BMW i3. Also evaluated were two plug-in hybrids, the Chevrolet Volt and Toyota Prius Prime. The plug-in hybrids fared the best, earning Top Safety Pick+ awards. Video courtesy of IIHS. The Tesla Model S P100D features a 100 kWh battery that offers a range of over 300 miles on a full charge.
