Subaru's future three-row, seven-passenger SUV will called the Ascent, the company announced at the New York International Auto Show.

The Ascent, which is being shown as a concept vehicle in New York, will be powered by a new turbocharged direct-injection boxer engine. It will have a 117-inch wheelbase and overall length of 198.8 inches. It will ride on 275/50 R21 tires.

The vehicle will be built on a modified version of the Subaru Global Platform and assembled at Subaru of Indiana in Lafayette. It will arrive at U.S. dealerships in 2018.

Subaru first showed a seven-passenger SUV concept called the VIZIV-7 at the Los Angeles auto show in November.
