American Leasing Corporation was founded in 1957 by Milton Lewis, who had previously founded a retail auto financing company, American Credit Corporation, in 1943.

According to the company's website, American Leasing Corporation remains family owned and operated, features a two-acre facility in Essex County, N.J., and services local and national accounts, with leased vehicles in every U.S. state. Milton's son Arthur Lewis is currently the companys' president and CEO, and his son Daniel is vice president.
