Fiat Chrysler Automobiles will debut its 2019 Jeep Cherokee at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit on Jan. 16.

The 2019 Cherokee, which entered its fifth generation with the 2014 model year, will arrive with more fuel-efficient powertrains and a "new, authentic and more premium design," according to a release.

The Cherokee competes with other compact SUVs such as the Honda CR-V, Mazda CX-5, and Hyundai Tucson.

Jeep has been revamping its lineup over recent model years with next-generation or new models such as the 2018 Wrangler, 2017 Compass, and 2015 Renegade.
